Program Information
Reality Mentor Inc.
Organization: Youth Mentor Program
Reality Mentor Inc.’s mission is to create a new community where youth participate in defining personal, educational and professional goals, and achieve them through life changing programs, projects, and one-on-one coaching/mentoring provided, in part, by mentors who hold positions of leadership in Bay Area business, government and educational institutions. RMI envisions a generation of youth who have reversed the trends of poverty, crime, unemployment, medical imbalance and lack of educational achievement that leave many socially and economically disadvantaged communities in despair and individuals without hope.

Description
Reality Mentor Inc. (RMI) takes a holistic approach to mentoring by encircling the youth with the necessary resources to succeed. Our 360 degree support system provides intervention to help foster life, social, and self-management skills. We believe these skills are the assets or protective factors that enable students to resolve conflicts more effectively and without resorting to violence. RMIs program expands on the traditional mentoring model by adding specialized training for mentees, mentors, and parents/guardians, providing student health and career (interest) assessments, job shadowing, and partnering with local community based organizations, such as Chabot College. We believe that this approach will increase childrens life and social skills, enhance parenting skills, and improve the overall domestic situation for our youth.
